Lonnie Wayne Hansen, 59, of Piedmont, S.D., died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Services were held July 15 at the Grace Reformed Church, Rapid City. Lonnie was born February 24, 1951 in Elgin, N.D. to Murile and Orpha (Bailey) Hansen. The family lived in Lemmon, Hermosa and Rapid City. Lonnie graduated from Central High School in Rapid City. He worked several different jobs before he married Donna Harvey in Wessington on May 28, 1988. They lived a short time in Rapid City before moving to their acreage in Piedmont in 1990.
Lonnie enjoyed fishing, mowing and landscaping, planting over 400 trees and shrubs on his acreage. He always had a Border Collie. Lonnie's goal was to travel after retirement. He achieved his dream of having a wife, a family and owning acreage.
He is survived by his wife Donna Hansen of Piedmont; one daughter, Rachel Hansen, Piedmont; mother, Orpha Hansen, Mobridge; step-mother, Fanny Hansen, Torrington, Wyo.; six brothers, Leslie Hansen, Loyd Hansen, Lee Hansen, Loel Hansen, Lorry (Jill) Hansen and Lynn Hansen; two sisters, Kandie (Arlen) Kelley and Cindy (Ron) Maier; mother-in-law, Roberta Harvey, Miller; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Marsha) Harvey and Merle (Teresa) Harvey; sisters-in-law, Kathy Harvey of Miller and Nancy (Loren) Major; and also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister-in-law, Jean; brother-in-law, Neil Harvey; and father-in-law, William Harvey.
