Eugene 'Pete' Fliehe 1929-2010
As published in The Miller Press July 28, 2010
Eugene William "Pete" Fliehe, 81, of Tulare, S.D., died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 27 at Tulare United Church in Tulare. Reverend Tim Fugman and Pastor Lorah Houser-Jankord officiated. Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery, rural Tulare. Go to www.thelenfuneralhome.com.

Eugene was born May 18, 1929, to William and Anna (Haar) Fliehe in rural Tulare. He attended Spink County Country School through eighth grade, at which time he started farming with his dad. Eugene married Dora "Beth" Schamp on September 9, 1949, and they continued farming near Tulare. He also worked for N.E.S.D.C.A.P. for many years.

Eugene and Beth had three children together and were married 61 years. He was known to all to be a very hard worker. He enjoyed many things in life especially camping and fishing, playing cards, going dancing and just "shooting the breeze" with friends. He loved having dogs around the farm and will be happy to see his beloved Molly again. Eugene was always known for working hard and playing harder, and his bark was much worse than his bite. He always enjoyed being with his family and friends and never missed an opportunity to have them all gather at the house.

Grateful for having shared their lives with him are his wife, Beth; his three children, Randy (Christine) Fliehe of Tulare, Laurie (Gary) Oliver of Pierre and Darwin (Denise) Fliehe of Redfield; 14 grandkids and six great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willard and Merlin; one half-brother Raymond Schultz; and a stillborn sister.
